A smartphone with a periscope camera is teased by Realme

Back in May 2020, Realme debuted a smartphone with the Realme X3 SuperZoom. Since then, the company has not debuted a device that features the regular telephoto or a periscope telephoto camera unit. According to some recent pieces of information, this is about to change. The company took to X, formerly known as Twitter, and shared an image that suggested the revival of the periscope camera on Realme smartphones.
Notably, the shared images reveal the back side of a smartphone. It holds a circular camera island that accompanies two circles and one rectangle. Possibly, the circles hint towards the primary and ultrawide cameras, whereas the rectangle suggests the periscope telephoto unit. The company’s post on X reads ‘This light will shine on Realme.’
The company has not shared any details about the camera or the smartphone. However, it made fun of the recently revealed Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max by stating, “Not only Max can zoom.” The iPhone 15 Pro Max is the company’s first smartphone that features a 12MP periscope telephoto unit with 5x optical zoom.
Coming back to Realme, the upcoming device could be the Realme GT 5 Pro. Previous rumors indicated that it could be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. In addition to this, some rumors claim that the smartphone will feature a 64MP telephoto camera (OmniVision OV64B). We may come across more information in the future.
