Amazon Appstore is now available on Windows 11

Apple and Amazon

Android apps for Windows 11 are one of the central functions of the latest version of the Microsoft OS and the Redmond-based company announced this a long time ago. But it wasn’t really clear when the whole thing would start two days ago. But now the time has come.

Appstore long in preparation

Android apps on Windows 11: This announcement dates back to the summer of 2021, i.e. to the presentation of Microsoft’s latest operating system. But the Redmond company needed a long time to implement it. Even when the autumn update for Windows 11 started this week, it was not clear when the Amazon Appstore required for Android would actually be available – Microsoft was not clear on this in its press releases and also spoke of “in the coming weeks”.

But now the time has really come, Microsoft has also pressed the button in this country and that means that the Amazon Appstore can be installed immediately. And from everyone: Because the Windows 11 2022 update or an insider version does not have to be installed for the app store to work. The Appstore can now be downloaded and installed from the Microsoft Store.

But it’s not that simple after all. Because first, you have to activate the virtualization in the UEFI or BIOS, which is usually found in the settings for the CPU. But that is not the only system restart that is required for this, because after pressing the install button for the Amazon Appstore, the setup of the Windows Subsystem for Android is also necessary.

At the moment, however, the Appstore still needs some fine-tuning on its front. Because only a handful of applications are listed on the start page, you can find a lot more apps by searching for the apps you need though.
