AMD may spoil new GraKas in advertisements

AMD will present its first RDNA 4 graphics cards at CES. Now images have emerged that may preview the design of the RX 8000 series. The unusual thing is that the ‘leak’ comes from the manufacturer itself.

Supposedly the first pictures of the RX 8000 series

CES 2025 is just around the corner. At the major electronics trade fair, which takes place in Las Vegas in the second week of January, all manufacturers large and small will present their new products. One of the hotly anticipated keynotes is that of Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who will present the first graphics cards of the upcoming GeForce RTX 50 series.

But AMD will also probably introduce two RDNA 4 GPUs with the Radeon RX 8700 and the RX 8800 XT. The first supposed images of the reference design for the cards can now be seen, which have probably been making their rounds unnoticed on the Internet for a few weeks.

Real photo or just placeholder?

So was Reddit user SubtleSerenity an advertisement from AMD caught my eye. The banner also shows a graphics card alongside other devices and components such as laptops and CPUs. What makes us suspicious is the fact that the Radeon card shown is not one of the previously known models.

While the case of the 6000 series consists of a mix of black and silver plastic, the 7000 series GPUs switched to an almost completely black design. The card shown on the advertising banner is visually between the two previous series with some silver accents and a slightly different shape. Although the images come directly from AMD itself, it cannot be said with certainty whether the image actually shows the new reference design for the RX 8000 cards. So it could just be a marketing placeholder or an AI-generated image, as some other Reddit users speculate.

GPUs for the masses

The upcoming RDNA 4 graphics cards are mid-range models. As AMD announced a few months ago, it is withdrawing from the competition for top GPUs and leaving the playing field to Nvidia. Instead, they want to concentrate on the more lucrative entry-level and mid-range segment. The aim is to significantly increase your own market share and win over developers.
