Ant-Man and The Wasp Quantumania Official Trailer Released

With Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) enters Phase 5 and with it, one name comes into focus: Kang the Conqueror. This is already a household name to fans of the comics and viewers of the Disney Plus series Loki and now he is also getting his first cinema appearance.

With Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home, phase 3 of the MCU ended in 2019 and is thus certainly the most successful run of a franchise in cinema history. The subsequent fourth phase could not begin to build on this, either qualitatively or quantitatively with regard to cinema-goers.

Pandemic Interference

Of course, that also had something to do with the pandemic, because the start of the films and series had to be postponed. The reasons for this were closed cinemas and delays in filming. But that’s not the only explanation why movies like Black Widow, Eternals, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder won’t leave a lasting impression on fans.

Rather, the Marvel Cinematic Universe lacked a direction and, above all, a villain of the Thanos format. With Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Phase 4 will end soon and Phase 5 will kick off on February 17, 2023, in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

The third Ant-Man strip is the 31st film in the MCU and as the first trailer (not yet available in German) shows, the humorous and light side of Marvel is again more in the foreground in the colorful adventure starring Paul Rudd. Starring Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, and Bill Murray, the film takes us into the microscopic quantum universe that is “beneath” our reality.

There, the heroes also meet the aforementioned Kang (Jonathan Majors), the villain who made his MCU debut in the Loki series and is arguably the most important character in the multiverse. This is also the central storyline that was already built up in phase 4, which will continue until phase 6 and will end in 2025 with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and in 2026 with Avengers: Secret Wars.
