Apple intends to make all its products carbon-neutral by 2030

Apple Park by Apple runs on 100% renewable energy. Reportedly, 17 megawatts of solar panels are installed on the campus roof. It is designed like a spaceship. Besides this, the company saves energy by utilizing natural ventilation for around 9 months of the year rather than using heating or air conditioners. It was back in 2017 when the company shifted its headquarters to Apple Park.

This information indicates that the headquarter of the company is carbon neutral. As of now, some recent reports indicate that the company is moving forward with a similar strategy with its manufacturing partners. Presently, they utilize 13.7 gigawatts of renewable electricity. It is an increase of 30% in contrast to 2022. In 2022, the Supplier Clean Energy Program by Apple helped shun 17.4 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. It is similar to taking 3.8 million cars off the road.

The company aims to make sure that every Apple product is carbon-neutral by 2030. In order to make this strategy effective, the company is working in close association with 250 suppliers across 28 different countries. It will help to shift to green power sources for a total that will be over 20 gigawatts. Back in 2016, the company initiated the Green Bond program. Apple invested $4.7 billion in this project. The basic purpose of this initiative is to speed up the adoption of low-carbon and carbon-neutral manufacturing and recycling technologies. For reference one of its accomplishments is the production of carbon-free aluminum.

Around $3.2 billion has been paid out thus far. Projects like the IP Radian Solar in Brown County, Texas, which just started churning off 320 megawatts, were financed by green bonds. A utility-scale battery was also supported under the initiative at the California Flats Solar Project near Monterey, California. It has a maximum storage capacity of 240-megawatt hours of renewable energy.
