Call of Duty classics expected on Xbox Game Pass soon

Classic Call of Duty titles could soon make their way to Xbox Game Pass. Entries in the Microsoft Store indicate an expansion of the subscription game range. Fans are hoping for a return of the shooter classics that have belonged to Microsoft since the Activision takeover.

Nostalgia for shooter fans in sight

Xbox Game Pass subscribers may be in for a trip down memory lane. New listings in the Microsoft Store suggest that classic Call of Duty titles could soon make their way to the popular subscription service. Specifically, listings were discovered for “Call of Duty: United Offensive”, “Call of Duty 2” and “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” – all milestones in shooter history.

The games are labeled “This is a classic Call of Duty experience”, which is probably intended to refer to the original versions. Loud TrueAchievements But the “classic experience” also means that the PC versions lack support for achievements. Some Xbox Network features, such as cross-platform multiplayer, will also not be available.

Activision Blizzard catalog

The strategy of including older titles in Game Pass is not new for Microsoft or was expected. In recent months, other Activision Blizzard games such as Spyro Reignited Trilogy, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled have been added to the service.

This gradual integration of the Activision Blizzard catalog into Game Pass follows Microsoft’s takeover of the publisher in October 2023. Fans of the series may soon have the opportunity to relive the beginnings of the Call of Duty series or for the first time discover:

  • “Call of Duty incl. United Offensive” (2004): An expansion to the original Call of Duty with new campaigns and expanded multiplayer modes.
  • “Call of Duty 2” (2005): Set new standards with advanced graphics and an intense World War II setting.
  • “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” (2007): Revolutionized the genre with a modern setting and innovative multiplayer progression system.

The possible inclusion of these titles in Game Pass would certainly be of interest to many who have recently played CoD titles but are too young for the beginnings of the series. And for older people, this would be a good opportunity to remember the “good old days”.
