Disney+ and Hulu collaborate to provide a new premium subscription without ads

It is hardly surprising that Disney+ has had a difficult year, in part because of the rising subscription fees and the poor production values of its most well-known Marvel TV series. Recently, the company announced that it would showcase Hulu content. As of now, Disney+ has come forward with a new Duo premium plan. As per the information, the new plan costs around $20 per month. It will provide users with ad-free access to both Hulu and Disney+.

The new plan was shared by the company’s CEO, Bob Iger, during the third-quarter earnings meeting. The CEO illuminated the company’s vision to cater to the needs and preferences of its user base. Iger shared that the new ad-supported Disney Plus subscription will be offered in Canada and other selected markets across Europe. It will be effective on November 1. For the US community, the company will offer another ad-free plan featuring Disney Plus and Hulu.

New Subscription Prices

Given the changes in prices, the price of the ad-free subscription plan will increase from $10.99 per month to $13.99 per month. Likewise, the ad-free plan on Hulu will go from $14.99 per month to $17.99 per month. In addition to this, the company is offering a new “Triple Play” bundle for $24.99 per month. The triple plan will cover the content from Disney Plus (ad-free), Hulu (ad-free), and ESPN Plus (with ads).

Besides this, the company is also working on the development of a single streaming app that will feature content from the two platforms. Despite the fact that both platforms will continue to be separate, this merged app promises a simplified entertainment experience.

Well, the new changes by the company could be challenging given the fact that Disney+ will be charging more than its competitors. Currently, the ad-free plan of Discovery’s Max service costs $15.99 per month. Furthermore, the company also introduced its recent policy of password-sharing crackdowns that will begin next year. All such factors will collectively define the future of the company.
