Dune Part 2 Trailer Is Released

It’s finally here, the long-awaited trailer for the second part of the science fiction film Dune. Its first part inspired cineastes and genre fans thanks to opulent pictures and a lot of loyalty to the original novel, now you can finally see what the return to the desert planet will look like.

Dune: Part Two is the next chapter in the film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The novel, published in 1965, was the start of a multi-part series and has already been implemented several times – as a cinema film by David Lynch and as a TV miniseries. The most recent version by the Canadian Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Blade Runner 2049) is the most visually stunning and also the most original version to date.

In the first part of Dune, 15-year-old Paul Atreides, son of Duke Leto I Atreides, arrived on the planet Dune ruled by his house. This is essential for the entire universe because only there the spice required for space travel can be found. But the rival and cruel House of Harkonnen murders his father and takes over the desert planet.

Fremen rebellion

Paul goes into hiding with the Fremen, an indigenous people who live in harmony with the barren nature and also have a special relationship with the massive and mysterious sandworms. Paul becomes their leader and – not too much of a spoiler – organizes the resistance against the Harkonnen.

That we get to see this trailer and thus also part 2 was not a matter of course. Because Dune Part Two depended on whether enough people go to the cinema. Warner Bros. tied the sequel to the success of the first part – and it was unlucky to appear in the middle of the pandemic.

Nevertheless, the film was a success and so Villeneuve can continue or finish the story. The first trailer shows that there will be epic pictures, lots of action, and a pinch of emotions again, starting November 3rd, 2023.
