Galaxy S26 Ultra: Samsung confirms red tint on flagship display

Users of the Galaxy S26 Ultra have been complaining about an annoying red tint on the screen for weeks. Samsung has now officially confirmed the problem and has given the all-clear. A software update should soon fix the color error.

Red tint on the Galaxy S26 Ultra

Samsung devices have occasionally had problems with display errors in the past. In addition to smartphones, the so-called ‘green line of death’ recently also hit the manufacturer’s wearables. Now owners of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra are reporting another disturbing phenomenon on the Internet. The screen of the smartphone model slowly develops a reddish color cast after some time of use. Like Samsung (via Android Authority) confirmed, the red haze is not a burn-in display or another hardware defect. Rather, the cause lies in the color calibration software.

New calibration profile causes problems

The smartphone has a new type of display that offers integrated privacy protection at the pixel level and does away with the traditional polarizer. This required a new calibration profile for color representation. However, if the panel is exposed to strong ambient light for a long period of time at maximum brightness, the color balance of the new profile can apparently shift.

Users do not have to replace their device to fix the error. You can now take your S26 Ultra to an authorized service center to have the software recalibrated on site. Alternatively, there will soon be an OTA update for the wireless bug fix, although this is still in development. However, it is currently unclear when the final software update will be available to all users worldwide. The responsible developers are currently checking the software in detail to avoid further complications with the special panel. Until publication, users with severely distorted colors will only have the option of contacting official customer service.
