The early market launch of the successor smartphone is indicated at the latest when a manufacturer discontinues the sale of the predecessor in the in-house online shop. Google has now done just that in the home market, where the Pixel 3a is no longer available and officially sold. In retrospect, after the Pixel 3a was no longer available, Google confirmed that it would never again want to deliver the mid-range smartphone itself. There is still no fixed date for the new Pixel 4a, but in the last few days, the market launch has been indicated by various regulatory authorities. It was also revealed that Pixel 4a would be launched in October or later with a different name. In Germany and various European countries, the Pixel 3a XL is already sold out, which in turn has no successor with a large display.
The Pixel 3a is now discontinued, the last sale is in progress, but the maintenance of the software will continue for longer. Updates to Android 11 and Android 12 should be safe, as should the monthly security patch for the next few years. Google has been maintaining its smartphones for about three years, so the Pixel 3a devices will last until the summer of 2022.
A lot is known about the Pixel 4a, there were even graphics created by Google. Only the market launch has been postponed several times for various reasons. Apart from the datasheet, the price should be reduced to only 349 euros. This makes the Pixel 4a more interesting than its predecessor.
