Here are all the things Samsung is doing to save the oceans

The South Korean conglomerate is putting in all efforts to lessen the impact on the environment. It is moving towards the development of a sustainable environment with its recent strategies. The company has even grabbed attention, awards, and certificates for its efforts. Just recently, the company grabbed the Platinum certification from the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) for water resources management.

Notably, the company utilized discarded fishing nets for a majority of its products. The company introduced the Galaxy S23 series just a month ago. Interestingly, Samsung has utilized recycled plastics made from discarded fishing nets for parts of the latest flagship series. Specifically, the Galaxy S23 Ultra comprises 80% recycled PET, 20% pre-consumer recycled glass, and 20% recycled ocean plastic. The company intends to discard 15 tons of wasted fishing nets from the oceans by the end of 2023.

Samsung has introduced products that reduce energy consumption

Previously, the company used recycled plastic with the Galaxy S22 series. Since then, Samsung has expanded the use of recycled plastic across the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Buds, tablets, PCs, and more. Furthermore, the company has collaborated with Hanwha Compound and DSM to manufacture eco-friendly material by utilizing discarded fishing nets in the ocean.

As mentioned in the infographic’s official blog, Samsung is producing 1 metric ton of plastic using recycled fishing nets. It helps to save carbon emissions by almost 25%. Producing goods from recycled materials is the same as growing 120 30-year-old pine trees. To cut down on energy use, Samsung has added SmartThings and other AI functions to its Televisions, monitors, and household appliances.

The Bespoke range of accessories is equipped with updated energy efficiency and AI features that work to limit microplastics. Besides this, Samsung Electronics has introduced a remote control named SolarCell. Reportedly, this remote control is made from 24% recycled plastic. Remarkably, it has the capacity to charge by using daylight and interior light.
