Meta restores Chromecast compatibility to Quest VR headsets following outrage

Meta discontinued Chromecast compatibility from Quest headsets a few weeks ago, prohibiting users from mirroring the material that these devices present on their internal displays to Chromecast devices. People were enraged that the firm had made this modification. Meta appears to have listened to users, as the firm has now restored Chromecast functionality to Quest headsets, allowing users to mirror the material that these devices present on their internal displays to Chromecast devices.

Multiple Meta support executives made the statement in numerous discussions on the company’s community site. In a forum where individuals were complaining about the issue, a Community Manager stated, “We restored casting from Meta Quest headsets to Chromecast.” According to various conversations on the site, Meta is restoring Chromecast connectivity to Quest VR headsets with a software update including the firmware number 60.0.0.214.366, which the company appears to have begun pushing out on Thursday.

However, the Community Manager also states in the same post, “Note that this feature is not fully supported and may not work properly for everyone. For the greatest experience, we recommend casting to a phone or computer instead. Thank you for your assistance in making Meta Quest a better experience for everyone, and we will continue to look for ways to improve the casting experience in the future.” So, it appears that Meta is not completely supporting this function or is opposed to offering it. There is currently no information regarding any company that might be non-enthusiastic about this feature.
