Microsoft Slashes Price For Surface Duo

Surface Duo

The Microsoft Surface Duo is the software company’s first Android smartphone. With its two displays connected in the middle by a hinge, the device has been on the market since September. Now prices are collapsing, probably also because the Surface Duo is not selling well.

As The Verge announced, US customers can now purchase the Surface Duo at significantly lower prices. Depending on the provider, you only have to pay just under $700 for the dual-screen hybrid smartphone with Android. Sometimes the buyers even get a bonus in the form of wireless headphones or other goodies.

The base price of $700 brings the Surface Duo to a region where you can usually buy normal smartphones from the Galaxy S series from Samsung and other well-known manufacturers. For 100 dollars more, some providers also sell the version of the Microsoft smartphone, which is available with an internal memory doubled to 256 gigabytes.

Surface Duo Demand Is Quite Low

There are certainly many reasons for the massive discounts on the Surface Duo. On the one hand, the demand is likely to be very low, after all, the US smartphone market is highly competitive and most devices are only sold in conjunction with cell phone contracts anyway – hardly anyone buys their smartphone on the open market.

On the other hand, the Surface Duo has been on the market for more than six months. This means that the device, which has two 5.8-inch screens and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 from 2019 without 5G support, is practically obsolete, even if it has an extremely unusual form factor.
