The Redmond company Microsoft is currently integrating some features that were originally designed for Windows 10X into the latest Insider builds of its desktop operating system. The new Voice Launcher is now being tested. This can be used to perform voice searches.
According to a report by Windows Latest, Windows 10 users have been able to use a feature called “Windows Voice Typing” since September to perform searches in the File Explorer and in the Start menu via voice input. Now the function has not only been integrated into the touchscreen keyboard but also into a voice launcher.
The voice input should be used automatically at all points in the operating system where a text field that uses the Windows Search API appears. Alternatively, the function can also be displayed using the key combination “Windows + H”.
The feature is currently being tested in the latest Insider version of Windows 10. So far, however, voice search is only available in certain regions. These include the USA, Great Britain, Australia, India, France, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Italy, Japan, and China.
If you don’t like voice search, you can deactivate the feature via the settings of the operating system. From the Windows 10 October 2021 update (21H2), the function could be activated by default, so that the shutdown has to be done manually.
