Mobile Phone Services will be Suspended Today in Lahore

As Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are returning to Pakistan today there are mixed emotions amongst the public, anticipation, fear, motivation, drive, and enthusiasm.

A letter has been written to the Ministry of Interior by the Interim Punjab government to suspend the cellular service today in Lahore. There is fear of violence in the capital city of Punjab upon Sharif’s return. Thus mobile services will get suspended today in Lahore.

In the five areas of Lahore, the caretaker government wants to suspend the mobile services. The areas include Lahore airport, walled city area, Shahdara, Nawab Town and Burki Hadyara. As per news reports, the Ministry has agreed to suspend the services from 3 pm to 11 pm. Thus for 8 hours, the mobile services will be suspended in Lahore.

Upon the return of Pakistan Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz a massive rally is expected outside Lahore Airport.

A traffic plan has been issued by Lahore’s City Traffic Officer so that commuter don’t get stuck in the traffic. More than 200 wardens will be placed in the city to control the traffic flow.

Metro Bus Service also has been suspended due to Sharif’s arrival today. All roads leading to the Lahore Airport have been sealed so that PML-N workers are unable to reach the airport to welcome their leader. Containers have been placed to stop any rally today in Lahore.

Containers have been placed in over 50 areas in Lahore which includes Thokar Niaz Baig, Multan Road, Ghari Shahu, Davis Road, Band Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Babu Sabu Interchange, Mazang Chungi, Model Town- Link Road, Bhatta Chowk, Cantt Entrance, Shahdara Chowk, Azaadi Flyover, Raiwand Road, Ring Road, Airport & neighboring areas.
