Nintendo Switch 2 Dummy Revealed At CES 2025

A dummy model of the Nintendo Switch 2 is causing a stir at CES 2025 in Las Vegas. The accessory manufacturer Genki presents the device behind closed doors, confirming some rumors about the next generation of consoles.

Larger display and new controller mechanics

The rumor mill about the successor to the successful Nintendo Switch is currently boiling over. At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025 in Las Vegas, the accessories manufacturer Genki is presenting a dummy model of the presumed Nintendo Switch 2 behind closed doors. According to Genki, the dimensions of the model correspond exactly to the upcoming console.

The dummy model confirms some of the rumors circulating about the next generation of Switch. The console is significantly larger than its predecessor. According to reports, the display could have a diagonal of 8 inches or more, which would be about the size of the Lenovo Legion Go.

Another innovation concerns the Joy-Con controllers. In the dummy model, these can no longer be removed upwards as before, but to the side. However, there still seems to be a mechanical lock, which contradicts the rumors about a purely magnetic attachment. An additional, unlabeled button was also discovered on the right Joy-Con. This could be the “C button” discussed in the rumor mill, whose exact function is still unclear.

Accessories manufacturers are preparing

Genki uses the dummy model to present its planned accessories for the Switch 2 to potential customers. The company plans to launch a total of eight products, including controllers and a docking station.
Net world reports that they were able to see and even touch the model at CES. According to the French website Numerama Genki even claims to have access to a real Nintendo Switch 2. However, this information should be treated with caution and has not yet been independently confirmed.

Speculation about market launch

Although Nintendo itself is not present at CES, a possible release date is making the rounds at the trade fair. Several sources speak of a planned market launch in April 2025. Despite the increasing rumors and possible leaks, the Japanese are still keeping a low profile.

The company has only confirmed that there will be news about the next generation of consoles by the end of March. However, in view of the increasingly concrete information, an official presentation of the Nintendo Switch 2 should not be long in coming.
