The ISOCELL GN2 camera sensor was rumored to be the main camera on both devices ahead of the official launch event. The fact that the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro do not have that component as their primary camera sensor is somewhat unexpected.
The Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro include a main camera sensor
According to Ben Sin’s investigation, both smartphones appear to include the ISOCELL GNV camera sensor. The Vivo X80 Pro’s camera sensor is exactly like that. It goes without saying that this is a big surprise.
Google doesn’t exactly corroborate such information, as many of you are aware, so we weren’t aware of it right away. The ISOCELL GNV, a 1/1.3-inch sensor, has been available for around two years at this point.
Now, Google claimed during the unveiling of the Pixel 8 series that the main camera on the new phones can capture 21% more light than the main camera on the company’s prior two smartphones. As many of you are aware, this sensor has 50 megapixels.
The camera configurations on the two phones are different, and they both only recently came out
Recently, the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro were released. The primary camera sensor on both phones is the same; however, there are two additional sensors that are different. The Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro both include 48-megapixel ultrawide cameras and 48-megapixel telephoto cameras, with the Pixel 8 having a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera.
In addition to various other advantages above the base model, the Pixel 8 Pro has a “Pro” camera mode. The Pixel 8 is a little bit smaller than its predecessor if you do want a smaller phone because the Pixel 8 Pro is enormous. Both phones are powered by Google’s Tensor G3 SoC, and they both also allow wireless charging. Both phones have 120Hz OLED panels, but they are not identical; the Pixel 8 Pro has the edge in that aspect.
