Sega And Microsoft Team Up For Super Game

In the next five years, Sega is planning a new “Super Game“, for which they are now bringing Microsoft’s know-how on board. The strategic alliance between the game developer and the Redmonders takes place with Azure services in the cloud.

In the spring, Sega announced its five-year plan, which is primarily designed for remasters, remakes, and reboots of well-known franchises such as Sonic, Phantasy Star, Total War, Football Manager, and Persona until 2024. At the same time, the game developer and publisher are trying to develop this and other titles into a global brand while concentrating on optimizing company size and profitability. The next “Super Game” from Sega will also be created within five years.

Microsoft Azure To Give Sega a New Boost

Microsoft is now accompanying the group on this path. As Sega announces in a press release, they are entering into a strategic partnership with the Redmond-based company to work in a “next-generation development environment” based on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform. We are talking about the development of innovative titles with a focus on “Global, Online, Community and Franchise Use (IP)”. Sega does not want to shut itself off from the trend and, in addition to classic games, apparently further advance into the areas of mobile and cloud gaming.

Sega Chief Operating Officer (COO) Yukio Sugino commented on the proposed alliance: “By entering into a strategic partnership with Microsoft, we want to advance our game development so that our titles can be enjoyed by fans all over the world. In this one In that respect, we are striving for an alliance that leverages SEGA’s powerful game development capabilities as well as Microsoft’s cutting edge technology and development environment. ” Sega should have already secured a place on Windows PCs, the Xbox Series X and Series S as well as in the Xbox Game Pass.
