WhatsApp announces a new video messaging feature
Just last month WhatsApp introduced several new features. Some of these features included chat history transfers and the ability to contact new and unknown numbers directly on the app. As of now, the company is rolling out a new video-related feature to its app.
The recent development was shared by the company via a blog post. The company declares that soon the app will receive an instant video messages feature. Just like the audio messages, users can now record and share short videos directly from within the chat.
How can a user create an instant short video?
In order to create an instant short video, users are required to click on the voice message icon. They will be presented with the option to swap it with video mode. after swapping the icon, hold the button and record the video. Furthermore, users can also swipe up the icon to lock in this way they will be able to record videos hands-free just like the voice messages.
According to the company, users can record videos of up to one minute or 60 seconds. These videos will play automatically on mute when they are posted in chat and will show up as a circle. The user only needs to tap the circle once to play the video and hear the sound, which briefly expands the window.
Similar to others of the app, the company declares that the instant video messaging feature is also end-to-end encrypted. WhatsApp already has the support for video messages but the new addition is definitely a nice one. The company has started rolling out the new feature. It will reach each and every user in the few upcoming weeks.
