WhatsApp will end its services for these smartphones by next week

Ever used a mobile device that is years old? Or let me rephrase the question have you ever come across a device that is more than eight years old? Not many, but still there will be quite a few people in the world who utilize such ancient devices. Well, we don’t have any issue with this. But these users might face some trouble while communicating with their devices. There is bad news for such users WhatsApp is likely to end its support for a set number of old mobile devices.

WhatsApp company has decided to stop the services support for devices running on Android versions below 5.0. WhatsApp will stop its services for smartphones of various companies. These series include mobile devices from Samsung, Apple, Huawei, HTC, LG, Sony, Lenovo, Wiko, Archos, Grand, and Memoi. Almost seven smartphones from Samsung will no longer support WhatsApp. The list includes the devices that were released between 2011 to 2013. It consists of smartphones like Galaxy S2, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Ace 2, Samsung Galaxy Trend II, Samsung Galaxy Trend Lite, and Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2. Apart from these seven Samsung smartphones, 42 mobile devices from the above-mentioned companies will no longer receive WhatsApp services.

Regarding the Samsung smartphones, they were having Android 4.x. This update was the most recent and last major Android OS update that these devices got. After December 2022 WhatsApp will stop working on these devices. To use WhatsApp services, users will be required to have a smartphone based on Android 5.0. Well, in the long run, it is recommended to rely on devices that are running Android 12 or Android 13 to avoid any trouble in the future.
