Windows 11 To Have Dark Mode By Default

Windows 11 dark mode

Microsoft confirms that Dark Mode will be introduced as the new standard design in some editions of Windows 11. Especially in commercial versions of the new operating system, the dark mode should be given priority over the classic light mode.

“Because we spend so much more time staring at bright screens, not just for endless emails, but also for countless meetings and keeping up with our personal lives, we are all Windows 11 commercial SKUs in that of IT fans will ship their favorite, beautiful dark mode. Of course, the light mode is also available if you prefer. ” In a recent Inspire session on the subject of hybrid work, Microsoft manager Melissa Grant commented on this interview.

Windows 11 Home and Pro continue to use light mode

It should therefore be clear that the Windows 11 Enterprise and Education versions will be set to dark mode ex-works. In contrast, Microsoft will deliver the much more widespread editions Windows 11 Home and Pro with the well-known light theme. As with Windows 10, it is still possible to adapt the design and, among other things, to decide for yourself whether the dark or light mode or a combination of both is used for the display of the operating system interface and the standard app mode.

As the colleagues from Windows Latest report, Microsoft is currently experimenting with a total of six Windows 11 themes and various background images. More options are also expected with a possible Windows 11 22H2 update one year after the expected release of the new operating system in autumn 2021. The most important new features at the start can be found in our infographic, among other things. To learn more about the design, we recommend taking a look at Microsoft’s quick video guide.
