Xbox Reaches Record 120 Million Active Players

Despite a slight drop in total revenue, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One are setting new records. In the past quarter, the consoles had more than 120 million active users. The presentation of further games for Game Pass and Co. is already pending today.

As Microsoft’s Chief Communications Officer (CCO) Frank X. Shaw announced in the course of the release of new financial figures, the Xbox ecosystem is currently enjoying great popularity. In the last three to four months, the company has surpassed the record 120 million monthly active console and PC (with Xbox app) gamers. The Redmond-based company is not only noticing an increase in Game Pass subscriptions but also in the hours of play that gamers now spend streaming games in the cloud.

Xbox Game Pass benefits and new games

Xbox Game Pass is likely to be the driving force. Microsoft now speaks of hundreds of titles and primarily advertises its extensive Ultimate tariff. Highlights include Halo Infinite, Forza Horizon 5, High On Life, FIFA 22, and Flight Simulator, among others. For $12.99 per month, gamers get access to all Game Pass games and the EA Play library. The Xbox Live Gold for multiplayer games and the use of the Microsoft Cloud, which is otherwise available separately, is also included.

In the course of the “Developer Direct” live stream, further presentations for the PC and Xbox Game Pass are likely to follow. Microsoft and Bethesda will be showing detailed gameplay for titles such as Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft Legends, and The Elder Scrolls Online (TESO) on January 25 (Wednesday) from 9 p.m. Directly after the event, ZeniMax’s ESO Global Reveal Event will start.
