Qualcomm sees arm chips on a good way

Qualcomm boss Cristiano Amon has just provided an overview of the progress of the introduction of the ARM processors of the Snapdragon-X series since the start of the start of the Computex 2025 in Taipei. Of course, specific quantities were guilty, but, as so often, it was convinced that everything goes according to plan.

The number of applications that can now be used native to systems with the arm-based Qualcomm Snapdragon X, Snapdragon X Plus or Snapdragon X Elite processors under Windows. So there was considerable growth within just one year, according to Amon.

ARM PCs also asked well in stores

In the meantime, the 200 most used programs of Windows users can also be used on ARM devices in a native form. Qualcomm had also made the same claim a few months ago. After all, thanks to the increased number of native running apps, it should now be possible that users will spend around 93 percent of the time in native running programs.

Positive feedback from the trade, which the Qualcomm boss quoted, should mean that one can also achieve reasonably decent sales figures. It was heard from MediaMarkt that when buying notebooks, customers could currently accept excellent performance and long terms as given, which is why they would now make their purchase decision according to other points of view.

HP and Asus add new laptops to the Computex

In the course of the Computex, Qualcomm itself does not present new products, but some hardware partners are adding new, cheaper notebooks. After Microsoft recently introduced the new, smaller and somewhat cheaper versions of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop, ASUS with new models of VivoBOOK 14 and 16 and HP with the Omnibook 5 in various sizes are launching new devices based on the current editions of the Snapdragon X processors.

With regard to the future, the Qualcomm boss was still covered, after all, we already know that the Californians under the code name “Project Glymur” are working on the third generation of their “Oryon” CPU, which is supposed to drive the second generation of Snapdragon X. Amon only promised that over the course of the year, the number of available or planned notebooks and 2-in-1 devices with the Snapdragon chips would be increased to over 100.

In addition, with the early availability of Fortnite and Easy Anti-Cheat from Epic Games that Snapdragon-based devices will soon become much more interesting for gaming use. This year you will be able to offer one of the most attractive game platforms with Windows with Fortnite, the Qualcomm boss promised.
