Write On Google Keyboard In Roman Urdu (Urdu) And It Will Automatically Convert To Urdu ( اردو ) Now
Google has come up with a new feature that went unnoticed for quite a time. Users can now write in Roman Urdu and their writing would automatically convert into Urdu script. What this means is that if users are writing “kia horaha” it would be converted to “کيا ہو رہا”
This initiative by Google would promote the Urdu language in the digital world we are living.

Urdu is a language understood by around 100 million people. Due to advancements in technology users all around us who can speak and write in Urdu, use Roman Urdu to transfer their messages. This has destroyed the essence of Urdu language, now you can write in Roman and would be converted to Urdu script which is great.
So users who want to use this new feature, here are the few simple steps
- Install Gboard via Google Play
- Your Keyboard and input method would be selected
- Go to Gboard settings, languages and deselect ‘Use system language’ option
- Gboard will show list of languages, chose Urdu (abc → اردو) option
Now you will be able to access this option in multiple apps present in your smartphone including the Messaging inbuilt app.
