Apple Increase App Store Prices: Apps Will Be More Expensive In Future

Starting October 5th, Apple will significantly increase the prices in the App Store for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. In all European countries, the price increase should be around 20 percent. App costs as well as those of in-app purchases are affected.

Apple is contacting all developers with details about the price adjustment and is publishing a detailed one as part of this document with new price tables (price tiers). According to this, the cheapest apps will no longer be offered for just 99 cents from October 5 but will cost 1.19 euros. The increase in the previous price level from EUR 1.99 to soon EUR 2.49 (+25 percent) is even more noticeable. Developers can charge a maximum of 1199.99 euros.

Price Increase Due to Euro exchange rate?

Apple does not officially provide information about the reason for the price increase, but the current exchange rate of the euro in relation to the US dollar should ensure this. Exactly one year ago, the exchange rate was 1.17 US dollars for one euro, now you only get one US dollar for it.

This was accompanied, among other things, by the increased prices for the recently introduced smartphones from the iPhone 14 family. Apple also states that not only the prices of the apps themselves will be affected, but also for in-app purchases users of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. will have to dig deeper into their pockets from October. However, subscriptions with recurring payments that have already been concluded are excluded from the increase for the time being.

In addition to all countries using the euro currency, the price increase will also be carried out in Chile, Egypt, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Poland, South Korea, Sweden, and Vietnam. In some regions, the price levels also contain new tax regulations, for example with regard to VAT and corporate income tax in Vietnam. If you are flirting with a paid app, you should ideally decide whether or not to buy it before October 5, 2022.
