The Galaxy Tab S8 series is one of the best Android tablets
Samsung is significantly expanding its tablet portfolio with the Galaxy Tab S8 series: the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra in particular, with an extra-large screen and up to 16 GB of RAM, would in particular meet even the highest demands, but with maximum equipment, it costs up to 1599 euros. 3 display formats
The biggest differences between the three models are mainly in the screens: while the Galaxy S8 has an 11-inch IPS screen with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, the S8+ is 12.4 inches and has a resolution of 2800 x 1752. pixels. It’s also a Super AMOLED, so the black levels are significantly better. The S8 Ultra, on the other hand, is a lot bigger at 14.6 inches. The resolution here is 2960 x 1848 pixels – meaning it has the worst pixel density of all three tablets.
But you only notice that if you look very closely. All three screens support up to 120 Hertz. Unlike tablets from Apple or Microsoft, the stylus for the current S8 series does not have to be purchased separately. The S Pen has excellent software support from Samsung. There is a new feature that allows you to manually enter text in almost any field. At Apple, however, this feature still works a little better.
Strong Android performance
In all three tablets is a current Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, either 128 GB or 256 GB storage and 8 GB RAM. Only the S8 Ultra offers greater storage options. In benchmarks, the S8 series leaves all other Android tablets behind, only Samsung can’t keep up with Apple’s top tablets. However, apps and current games always run very well.
Dual camera and big update promised
The main camera consists of a 13-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 6-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The latter in particular may be a bit small for photography enthusiasts, but the image quality is generally good. Like the front camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens is installed.
With video telephony, for example, this can automatically zoom and place people in the middle of the recording. Samsung supplies the tablets with Android 12 and One UI 4.1 and promises four major Android updates and five years of security updates.
