Xiaomi launches Redmi Buds 4 and 4 Pro to give Apple AirPods Pro a hard time

Xiaomi has just presented two new True Wireless headphones in China, the Redmi Buds 4 and Redmi Buds 4 Pro. The new models are both compatible with active noise cancellation technology and are offered at very attractive prices.

On the occasion of its major conference on May 24, 2022, Xiaomi lifted the veil on new mid-range smartphones, the Redmi Note 11T Pro and Redmi Note 11T Pro+, a Xiaomi Band 7 connected bracelet, as well as a brand new generation of Bluetooth headphones, the Redmi Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro. These will immediately follow the Redmi Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro, which were unveiled in Europe last summer for the most expensive model, and at the end of the year for the classic version.

The new generation is meant to be very different, because in addition to offering a new design, both pairs are now compatible with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology† Previously, only the Buds 3 Pro model benefited from this.

What technical features for the Redmi Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro?

First of all, this year’s Redmi Buds 4 have the same compact design as last year’s Redmi Buds 3 Pro. These in-ear headphones offer: active noise cancellation which is 35 dB . suppressed, as is the case with most of their competitors. Each earbud features a 10mm composite vibrating diaphragm, which should deliver better sound reproduction than the previous generation. Their main advantage over the Redmi Buds 3 Pro is their greater autonomy, it lasts until 6 hours on a single charge, and up to 30 hours with the case.
For their part, the Redmi Buds 4 Pro are destined to hurt Apple’s AirPods Pro.

Headphones are entitled to: 43 dB noise reduction particularly effective against wind noise and a dual aperture of 10 mm and 6 mm. On the connectivity side, the headphones rely on the new Bluetooth 5.3 standard, while the Buds 4 make do with Bluetooth 5.2. Finally, the announced autonomy is on 9 hours on a single charge and up to 36 hours with the case† Both couples are also IP54 certified for water and dust resistance, and the Redmi Buds 4 Pro offer a low latency mode of only 59 ms† For prices, it costs 199 yuan (28 euros) for the Redmi Buds 4 and 399 yuan (56 euros) for the Redmi Buds 4 Pro† The headphones are therefore more expensive than the previous generation. We will have to wait a few more weeks before we see them arrive in Europe.
