Android 14 could turn your smartphone into a webcam

Android 14 is expected to be a big hit. The tech firm Google has announced several new amazing features with the upcoming Android OS upgrade. According to some information sources, Google and Samsung will introduce Health Connect to Android 14. In addition to this, some pieces of information suggest that predictive back gestures and satellite connectivity will also be integrated with Android 14. Besides all this information, something new is coming our way. According to the latest information,  the new OS upgrade will enable users to utilize their smartphones like a webcam.

Camo is an application that enables users to utilize their smartphones as a webcam for PC. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, more people were forced to work from home. Even students have to reside in homes and study. They require webcams for such activities. Eventually, these situations demanded a surge in the use of webcams.

Such a scenario is presented as opportunity grabbing. Google seems to work on it by introducing native support for using smartphones as webcams with Android 14. The analyst, Mishaal Rahman, identified a new code. The new strings of code suggest that Google is working on a new feature that has been termed DeviceAsWebcam. It is expected to go against the Camo app as well as the Continuity Camera feature introduced by Apple.

The upcoming feature will enable the users to use their Android 14-based smartphone as a webcam. Although there are many options out there like USB Video Class or UVC. But the introduction of this latest feature by Google would make it a distinguisher in contrast to the Continuity Camera feature that is only presented across iOS and macOS devices.
